COURSE INTRODUCITON

 

Architecture combines both art and science.  It is a profession that develops, designs, plans and manages building and its surrounding context. Architecture is a rich discipline covering a diverse scope ranging from the design of various types of buildings within urban, rural, community, ecological and regional areas. Architects serve not only as designers but they help create buildings that respond to human habitation in diverse cultural and ecological contexts.

 

The School offers a professionally validated Diploma of Architecture for candidates who are interested to pursue their studies in a career within design and construction industry. Students will be exposed to the knowledge and will be taught skills required in planning, design and researches for areas such as housing, institutional, industrial, commercial and etc. Our program is always referring to the Persatuan Arkitek Malaysia (PAM) for advices and requirements on the course outline provided in promise to be kept at a par with other architectural schools accredited by Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM) and Persatuan Arkitek Malaysia (PAM) in line with the industry’s needs and demands.

 

Programme Outline

 

Diploma in Architecture curriculum emphasize on design studio projects, which is the primary academic component of each semester. Students will undergo 12-15 hours studio in a week to ensure the projects that will be presenting by the students hit the standard. This studio training is coupled with imaginative and comprehensive instruction in architectural history, technology, theory, digital media, techniques of representation and professional concerns. Besides, students will also expose with field work and site visit for better understanding of area and construction of each development process.

 

The first year introduces student to the subjects of introduction to architecture and basic design elements and practices.

The second year student begins to explore in wider issues with emphasis on design process and design with technology through studio practices.

The third year focuses on independent judgment to define issues. Student will deal with more complex technical problems and develop strong theoretical positions in their practical training.

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES

·         To produce students with high skill in technical area of architecture as to fulfill the requirement of Diploma in Architecture program by the industry.

·         To generate more professionals in architecture’s field with sensitivity towards development need

·         To give exposure to the students regarding architecture’s quality in Malaysia.

·         To offer wide opportunity for students to pursue their studies to the higher level in architectural field locally or internationally.

 

COURSE HANDLING METHODS

Studio work consists of 12-15 hours a week, lecture, tutorial, site visit, project analysis, CAD Lab and industrial training.

DURATION

3 years / 6 semesters

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Pass SPM / SPMV with 3 credits in any subjects preferable in Mathematics or Arts

Or

Any certificate recognized by the Malaysia Government with at least CGPA not less than 2.00

CAREER PROSPECT

Graduates normally proceed to or continue with employment as draft man or assistant in architectural practise as follows:
