KUALA LUMPUR, 19 June 2025 ā Universiti Geomatika Malaysia (UGM) celebrated a proud and historic milestone yesterday with its 17th Convocation Ceremony, held in full grandeur at Dewan Merdeka, World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur. The event brought together graduates, proud families, academicians, and honoured guests in a meaningful celebration of academic excellence, growth, and success.
The ceremony was officiated by the universityās Chancellor, Yang Amat Berbahagia Toh Puan Datuk Wira (Dr.) Hajah Asmah Binti Haji Abdul Rahman, alongside the Pro Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Sri Dr. Irmohizam Ibrahim, President Professor Dato’ Surveyor Dr. Mohaizi Bin Mohamad, and Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Raduwan Bin Idar. Their presence added prestige and warmth to the occasion, which saw a total of over 600 graduates receiving scrolls in various disciplines across diploma, bachelorās, masterās, and doctoral levels.
The event commenced with musical performances and a grand procession of graduates, senate members, and the Board of Governors. In line with UGMās values of tradition and diversity, the ceremony was enriched with cultural performances by students from the Performing Arts Club ā including traditional songs, dances, and medley performances representing Malaysiaās colourful heritage.
A total of 23 distinguished individuals were conferred with the title of Adjunct Professor, and several were awarded as Professor of Practice for their outstanding achievements and contributions in sectors such as business, finance, education, law, halal industry, and communications.
Additionally, UGM celebrated the accomplishments of three senior academicians from within the university with the Associate Professor Award:
Dr. Nurul Amirah Binti Isa ā Associate Professor in Built Environment Sector
Dr. Asniza Binti Yusuf ā Associate Professor in Human Resource Management
Puan Anisah Binti Hasbullah ā Associate Professor in Management Sector
These appointments reflect UGMās continuous commitment to recognising academic excellence and leadership both from within and outside the university.
A deeply emotional moment came during the posthumous award presentation to the family of the late Muhammad Aizat Amni Bin Sobri, a Diploma in Creative Multimedia student who passed away earlier this month. His dedication and contributions to UGM were remembered with honour, and his father received the diploma on his behalf.
The university proudly acknowledged its outstanding students through the Best Student Awards, with top scorers selected from every program. Among the highest honours:
