An Official Visit to IX TELECOM Sdn Bhd

29 October 2019 – Geomatika University College (GUC) today conducted an official visit to IX TELECOM Sdn Bhd, a Bumiputera global telecommunications company that provides professional services in terms of consulting and ICT-related requirements for telecommunications companies. About 21 students from Faculty of Computing and Innovative Technology (FACIT), GUC along with Dean of the Faculty, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wan Su Emi Yusnita Binti Wan Yusof and Director of Centre of Emerging Technology and Innovative Applications (CETIA), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ghassan Saleh Hussein have participated in the visit.

The official visit was organised as one of the faculty activities that aims create exposure in students about the history of telecommunications in Malaysia and to educate students to technological developments in the telecommunications industry in the country. The students were brought to pay a visit to all the departments which are computer networks, programming, and 2D animation.

“The staffs were very friendly and the activity given was fun”, said one of the students who has attended the visit. Students participated in online Quiz after short presentation given by Mr Fakhrul Radzy Hamdan , who has more than 15 years telecommunication engineering and operation with various telco and vendors such as TM, Ericsson, Tellabs and Coriant working in various countries from IX. Then, he announced the winner of the Quiz activity.

Students were taught on business planning and researching and opportunities on real work in IX Telecom that will be helpful for final year industrial training. The expertise also discusses issues on web-based PHP system and mobile apps.

The visit was an enlightening one as students got to increase their knowledge in the telecommunications industry in Malaysia by discovering new facts and information on the topic.
