ASEAN Academic Forum 2024 Transforming Nusantara Education

Malacca, July 4, 2024 – The ASEAN Academic Forum 2024, themed “Transforming Nusantara Education,” was successfully held yesterday at the Mudzaffar Hotel in Malacca. Organized by Universiti Geomatika Malaysia, the forum gathered distinguished delegates, academicians, and students from across the ASEAN region to discuss and explore sustainable educational practices and innovations.

The event commenced with a welcoming speech and keynote address by Prof. Datuk Sr. Dr. Mohaizi bin Mohamad, President of Universiti Geomatika Malaysia. His insightful address titled “University in Industry – Cultivating A Robust Business Model” set the tone for the day, emphasizing the importance of integrating academic excellence with industry needs.

Following the keynote, the forum featured two main sessions of presentations and discussions. Esteemed speakers, including Prof. Emeritus Datuk Wira Dr. Hj. Mohd Jamil bin Mukmin and Dr. Cris Kuntadi, shared their expertise on critical issues such as academic challenges in the Nusantara region and the significance of global academic recognition. The sessions included interactive Q&A segments, allowing attendees to engage directly with the speakers.

A highlight of the forum was the MOU signing ceremony between Universiti Geomatika Malaysia and several universities from Indonesia and the Philippines, symbolizing a commitment to collaborative research and academic excellence across borders.

The event also celebrated outstanding contributions to education through the presentation of honorary awards. Recipients were recognized for their exemplary service to academia, their respective universities, and their nations. The ceremony concluded with a scientific oration by Prof. Dr. Martin Roestamy SH. MH., Chancellor of Universitas Djuanda, adding a scholarly touch to the closing proceedings.
