Journalism is a practice of investigation and reporting of events, issues and trends to a broad audience in a timely fashion. Though there are many variations of journalism, the idea is to inform the intended audience. Along with organisations and institutions such as government and business, journalism also covers the cultural aspects of the society such as arts and entertainment. This field includes editing skills, photojournalism, and documentary.
Diploma in Journalism offered by Geomatika is a program with focus on strengthening the skill in reporting, with relevant theory and professional education including the laws in media. Students also will be exposed with the necessary skills in news editing, students and community newspaper, radio broadcasting, digital photography, advertising, public relation, and publishing design. The objectives for this course are to develop competency in journalism, and to equip the students with knowledge in journalism ethics, media theories, and skills.
