Diploma in Geographic Information System Technology – Geographic Information System Technology (GIST) is an information technology field of practice that acquires, manages, interprets, integrates, displays, analyses, or otherwise uses data focusing on the geographic, temporal, and spatial context.

Beside that, application of GIS in Malaysia is on the increasing trend especially in the environmental management field, urban planning, logging, health application matters, and petroleum. More over, GIS allows us to view, understand, question, interpret, and visualize data in many ways that reveal relationships, patterns, and trends in the form of maps, globes, reports, and charts.

Furthermore, this course will allow students to answer questions and solve problems by looking at the data in a way that is quickly understood and easily shared. GIS technology can be integrated into any enterprise information system framework. Hence, the Diploma in GIST Program aims to produce graduates in the field of geoinformatics to support the needs in handling various geospatial-related developments of the country.

Local Admission

SPM / SPMV

  • Pass with at least three (3) credits including Mathematics; OR

STAM

  • Pass with rank “Maqbul” AND Pass Mathematics at SPM level; OR

STPM

  • Pass with at least Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in one (1) subject AND Pass Mathematics AND English AND Science/Technical/Vocational Education at SPM level; OR

O - Level

  • Pass with at least Grade C in three (3) subjects including Mathematics; OR

Certificate

  • Pass Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least Grade B in three (3) subjects including Mathematics; OR
  • Obtained Certificate (MQF level 3) in the relevan field of Higher Education (PPT) which is recognized by Malaysian Government with 2.00 minimum CGPA; OR
  • Obtained Certificate in Vocational/Technical/Community College Certificate/Sijil Kemahiran (SKM level 3) with one (1) year of working experience in related field OR one (1) semester Bridging Program AND Pass SPM with at least one (1) credit; OR

Any equivalent qualifications recognize by Malaysian Government

International Admission

The English Language Entry Requirement for International Student at GEOMATIKA University College are as follows:

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) – Band 5.5
TOEFL: Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL) – Score 450

** For students who do not have the above English Qualification, they must undergo Geomatika College International’s English Program
