Doctor of Philosophy (Education) | Geomatika

A Doctor of Philosophy (Education) is a doctoral degree that focuses on advanced research and scholarship in the field of education. It is the highest academic degree in the field and is typically pursued by individuals interested in becoming researchers, scholars, or leaders in the field of education. A Ph.D. in Education program usually involves a combination of coursework, independent research, and the completion of a thesis. The coursework component of the program provides students with a solid foundation in academic writing & research methodologies. Produce Education Practitioners who have have state of the art knowledge research outputs in the form of a thesis, patents, products, new advanced professional practice or advanced technologies or creative models.

The culmination of the research is a thesis, which is a substantial piece of scholarly work that contributes new knowledge to the field. Doctor of Philosophy (Education) graduates often pursue careers in academia as academicians, researchers, or administrators in school, colleges and universities. They may also work in research organizations, government agencies, non-profit organizations, or educational consulting firms. The doctoral degree equips graduates with the skills and expertise needed to conduct rigorous research, critically analyze educational issues, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of education. By investing in PhD programs, Malaysia aims to build a strong foundation for its future development and contribute to the global knowledge economy

Local Admission


i. A Master’s degree (Level 7, MQF) as accepted by the HEP’s Senate; OR
ii. Other qualifications equivalent to a Master’s degree (Level 7, MQF) as accepted by the HEP Senate; OR
iii. Candidates without a related qualification in the field/s or working experience in the relevant fields must undergo prerequisite courses** determined by the HEP.

Notes:
There shall be no direct entry from Bachelor’s Degree level to PhD level. Candidates with bachelors masters degree who are registered for programmes with at least CGPA of 3.67 at Bachelor’s Degree level may apply to convert their candidacy to the PhD programmes within one (1) year after master’s degree registration, subject to:
a) Having shown competency and capability in conducting research at PhD level.
b) Rigorous internal evaluation by HEP.
c) Approval by the HEP’s Senate.

2. Curriculum course
Pre-requisite courses may be taken at Universiti Geomatika Malaysia or through Micro-Credential, MOOC, Short Course, or CPD platforms such as Coursera, OpenLearning, and others. Candidates must provide evidence and pass a rigorous internal assessment.

International Admission


The English Language Entry Requirement for International Student at University of GEOMATIKA Malaysia are as follows:

Achieve a minimum Band 4 in MUET OR equivalent to Common European Framework of reference for Languages (CEFR) Mid B2.

** For students who do not have the above English Qualification, they must undergo Geomatika’s English Program
