Kuala Lumpur, 13 June 2024 – The International Conference on Sustainability in Technology, Environment, Law, Management, Social, and Economic Matters (ICOSTELM 2024) started today at Tun Dr Ismail Hall A, WTCKL. The event brought together academics, industry leaders, and policymakers from around the world.
Opening Speech and Keynote Address
The Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Geomatika Malaysia, Yang Berbahagia Profesor Dato’ Sri Dr. Hj. Irmohizam Ibrahim, gave the keynote speech. He talked about the importance of universities working with industries and imagining new possibilities.
Presentations
Several experts shared their research and ideas, including:
- Prof. Dato’ Sr Dr. Azimuddin Bahari, Vice Chancellor of North Borneo University College, discussed how law and business ethics can support environmental conservation and sustainable development.
- Prof. Dr. K. Saminathan, from Universiti Geomatika Malaysia, talked about the importance of humanity in research.
International Speakers The conference also featured international experts:
- Prof. Dr. Martin Roestamy, from Universitas Djuanda, Indonesia, discussed resolving land conflicts and protecting indigenous peoples’ rights.
- Dr. Hjh. Siti Nurjanah M.Ag., PIA, from State Islamic Institute Metro, Indonesia, talked about children’s rights in families.
MoU Signing Ceremony
A highlight of the conference was the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between Universiti Geomatika Malaysia and several Indonesian universities. These agreements aim to promote academic exchange and joint research on sustainability.
The conference ended with a student performance and closing remarks, emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration for a sustainable future. Participants were invited to lunch and to join upcoming events and exhibitions at Universiti Geomatika Malaysia.
ICOSTELM 2024 highlighted the need for teamwork across different fields to achieve sustainability goals and set the stage for future innovations and partnerships.
