UGM Explores New Opportunities in Healthcare Sector Through Visit to China

11 September 2026 – Universiti Geomatika Malaysia (UGM) strengthened its international engagement through a series of institutional visits in Shaoyang, China, organised and coordinated by the Shao Yang Municipal Health Commission. Led by UGM Vice Chancellor Prof. Datuk Is. Dr. Mazrin Rohizaq Che Rose, the delegation visited healthcare and education institutions to gain first-hand exposure to local practices and explore potential opportunities for future cooperation.

The programme included a visit to the Shao Yang Municipal Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, where the delegation was introduced to the hospital’s facilities, services and healthcare practices. The visit provided an opportunity for UGM representatives to gain a closer understanding of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and its application within the healthcare sector, while exchanging perspectives on professional development and healthcare practices.

The delegation subsequently continued its visit to Xinning County Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, further expanding its exposure to TCM and the healthcare system in Shaoyang. Discussions during the hospital visits also touched on potential areas of collaboration, including education, research, traditional medicine, knowledge exchange and the development of professional expertise between institutions in Malaysia and China.

As part of the wider programme, the UGM delegation also visited Shao Yang Industry Polytechnic College, adding an educational dimension to the visit and providing further insight into the local approach to skills and professional education. The series of engagements reflects UGM’s commitment to expanding international networks and creating opportunities for knowledge sharing, institutional collaboration and future partnerships in healthcare and education.
