UGM Hosts 6th ICOSTELM 2026 and Advances Regional Academic Collaboration

University of Geomatika Malaysia (UGM) successfully hosted the 6th International Conference on Sustainability in Technological, Environmental, Law, Management, Social, and Economic Matters (ICOSTELM) 2026 on 29 January 2026 at the Tabung Haji Tower, Kuala Lumpur.

The conference brought together prominent academics, researchers, and institutional leaders from across the region to exchange insights on sustainability and innovation across multidisciplinary fields. ICOSTELM 2026 served as a dynamic platform for intellectual discourse, strategic dialogue, and cross-border collaboration.

Beyond the academic sessions, the conference marked a significant milestone with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), reflecting UGM’s ongoing commitment to strengthening international academic networks and research collaboration.

Building on this momentum, UGM further expanded its regional engagement through a strategic collaboration at Universitas Maritim Raja Ali Haji (UMRAH), Dompak, Tanjungpinang, Indonesia, together with the APPEKNAS Institute and the Malaysian Business Empowerment Council (MPPM).

The initiative was led by:

This collaboration creates new opportunities for Master’s and PhD studies aligned with ASEAN standards, supported by research-based smart learning and scholarship pathways. The initiative reflects a shared commitment to nurturing future scholars and enhancing academic excellence across the region.

Through ICOSTELM 2026 and its expanding international partnerships, UGM continues to position itself as a forward-looking institution dedicated to sustainable development, impactful research, and meaningful global collaboration.
