Universiti Geomatika Malaysia (UGM) successfully hosted the Fiesta Rakan Muda Peringkat Kawasan Titiwangsa/Setiawangsa on Wednesday, 25 June 2025. The event, held in collaboration with the Youth and Sports Office of Titiwangsa and Setiawangsa, brought vibrant energy to the campus through a day packed with activities, competitions, and youth empowerment programs.
Running from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the fiesta attracted enthusiastic participation from local youth, students, and community members. It kicked off with participant registration and breakfast at the universityās main lobby area.
The opening speech was delivered by officials from the Youth and Sports Office along with representatives from UGM. Their message focused on the importance of empowering young people through community involvement and healthy lifestyles.
The morning continued with a lively āGet Fit Fiestaā session led by student instructors, promoting physical activity and wellness. Open to all attendees, the session included zumba and fun aerobics that got everyone moving and smiling.
From 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., a variety of Rakan Muda activities took place across the campus, each representing a key Rakan Muda lifestyle. Participants explored different zones and competitions, including:
Rakan Demokrasi: Civic awareness and youth engagement. SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
Rakan Ekspresi: Doodle art and digital expression. SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 3: Good Health (mental well-being)
Rakan Bumi: Creative recycling innovation competition. SDG 13: Climate Action, SDG 15: Life on Land, SDG 14: Life Below Water
Rakan Muzik: Live busking by university talents. SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities (cultural enrichment)
Rakan Niaga: Themed autoshow competition “Gear Muda”. SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
Rakan Intelek: Mini e-sport tournament (Mobile Legends).
Rakan Cinta Alam: Environmental exploration and awareness walk.
Rakan Prihatin: Health checks, CPR demos, and MYCAPMION promo. SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals
Rakan Digital: Online content creation challenge. SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals
Rakan Aktif: Fun zumba and fitness sessions throughout the day. SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being
Each zone was managed by student volunteers and staff, creating a dynamic and welcoming atmosphere for all.
The event wrapped up with a prize-giving ceremony at 2:30 p.m., where winners from each competition and activity zone were announced and awarded. Participants walked away not only with prizes but also with new friendships and lasting memories. This event underscored UGMās ongoing commitment to engaging with the youth community and promoting holistic education through collaboration and real-world initiatives.
