UGM Joins World Summit 2025 and Enters World Book of Records

University of Geomatika Malaysia (UGM) is proud to be part of a significant global moment — the World Summit 2025, a prestigious event now officially recognised in the World Book of Records. This year’s summit celebrated global collaboration in science and education, and UGM was honoured to contribute through meaningful involvement in two major competitions: the International Science Olympiad and the International Abacus Olympiad.

Held at the Kota Kemuning Golf Club and KSL Mall, Klang, the events brought together top-performing young minds from across continents. Our very own dedicated UGM lecturers served as judges, offering their expertise and academic insight to evaluate hundreds of brilliant students competing in science, innovation, and mental arithmetic.

The opening ceremony on 25th July 2025 was more than just formalities — it was a celebration of cultures, ideas, and global friendships. Delegates arrived in their national attire, waving flags and sharing their identities proudly. A vibrant parade of nations, traditional performances from countries like Vietnam, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Egypt, and heartfelt speeches set the tone for what would be an unforgettable summit.

UGM was represented on stage by Prof. Datin Nazirah Mohaizi, who delivered a warm and inspiring speech, reinforcing our university’s dedication to cross-border learning and innovation. Her presence highlighted UGM’s role not only as an academic institution but as a committed partner in nurturing global talent.

The closing ceremony on 27th July 2025 was held at KSL Mall, Klang, and featured a grand prize-giving segment. Students received awards ranging from bronze to gold, as well as special recognitions and certificates of achievement. One of the most anticipated moments was the recognition of a record-breaking milestone by TMP Academy for hosting the Largest Global STEM Olympiad, officially certified by the World Book of Records.

UGM lecturers’ involvement as judges in such a historic event speaks volumes about our academic standards and the trust placed in our educators internationally. We are incredibly proud of their contribution, which directly supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 – Quality Education, by promoting excellence and fair evaluation across borders.

This global collaboration and recognition reaffirm UGM’s position as a university that not only nurtures local talent but also actively shapes the future of global education. Being involved in such an event — and in the record books — is more than a badge of honour. It’s a reminder of our ongoing mission to empower youth through education, expand international partnerships, and support innovation at all levels. The closing ceremony officiated by Prof. Datuk Mazrin Rohizaq Che Rose, Deputy President II of University of Geomatika Malaysia (UGM).

Congratulations to our team and to all the young achievers who made this summit a success. UGM is committed to continuing this journey of academic excellence, collaboration, and global impact.
