UGM Outbound Mobility Programme 2026 Promotes Cultural Learning and SDG Values in Bandung

28 August 2026 – Universiti Geomatika Malaysia (UGM) recently enhanced its international learning through the UGM Outbound Mobility Programme 2026 in Bandung, Indonesia. This initiative gave students hands-on learning beyond the classroom through cultural exploration, community engagement, and responsible tourism, helping them connect with local traditions and appreciate cultural diversity.

During the trip, participants directly engaged with local culture by watching traditional dance performances, playing traditional instruments, exploring natural sights, and connecting with community members. They also enjoyed local food and beverages while spending time with local children, fostering genuine cultural exchange and mutual respect.

The programme aligns with SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by fostering social inclusion and mutual respect through meaningful cross-cultural exchange. It also supports SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by encouraging the preservation of local heritage, alongside SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land) through responsible tourism practices that protect Bandung’s natural environments and eco-frameworks for future generations.

Overall, the journey went beyond standard travel to deliver meaningful, real-world learning. By blending education, community involvement, and responsible tourism, UGM continues to develop globally aware, culturally sensitive, and socially responsible graduates.
