Kuala Lumpur, 26 August 2025 ā Universiti Geomatika Malaysia (UGM) successfully hosted the 5th International Conference on Sustainability in Technological, Environmental, Law, Management, Social and Economic Matters (ICOSTELM 2025) at Dewan Besar, Menara Tabung Haji, Kuala Lumpur.
This yearās theme, āGreen Economy and Smart Governance: Pathways to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),ā brought together scholars, policymakers, industry leaders, and students to share research findings, exchange knowledge, and explore collaborative solutions for global sustainability challenges.
The conference began with an opening speech by Professor Dr. Tulus Suryanto, President of the ASEAN Academic Association, followed by a welcoming address from Professor Datuk Sr. Dr. Mohaizi bin Mohamad, Group President of UGM and Chairman of the Dunia Melayu Dunia Islam (DMDI) Education Bureau.
The keynote address was delivered by Professor Dr. Mohd Raduwan bin Idar, Vice Chancellor of UGM, who highlighted the crucial role of universities in advancing sustainability through education, research, and community partnerships.

The conference concluded with a cultural performance by Indonesian students, followed by a networking luncheon. Delegates were later invited to UGM to explore the Faculty Exhibition, showcasing research and innovative projects by UGM lecturers and students.
ICOSTELM 2025 reaffirmed UGMās commitment to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through education, research, and regional collaboration. By fostering dialogue between academia, industry, and policymakers, UGM continues to position itself as a hub for sustainable development in Malaysia and the wider region.
